Founded on the Sussex coast in 2023, we built The Hideaway around one rule — never see more guests than we can care for properly.

Our Beginning

Why a hideaway, and why here.

The Hideaway was registered as a private limited company in November 2023, but the idea is older than that. For years, our founder worked across larger spas and city wellness clubs — beautiful spaces, often, but governed by appointment grids, shared changing rooms, and the soft pressure of always being one of many.

What kept coming up, in conversations with guests, was the same wish: I want somewhere I can exhale, where nobody is watching the clock.

Shoreham-by-Sea felt like the right home for that idea. A coastal town just outside Brighton, with the sea on one side and the South Downs on the other — a place people already come to slow down. We took a building on Upper Shoreham Road, stripped it back to warm stone and wood, and rebuilt it as a single private suite with a pool, a sauna and a treatment room. One booking at a time.

What We Stand For

Four quiet principles.

Privacy as luxury

The single most important thing we offer is solitude. Our schedule is built so that one booking ends fully before the next begins. You will not encounter another guest during your visit.

ii.

Craft over speed

We do not run hourly turnover. Treatments are paced to the body in front of us, not to the clock on the wall. Therapists are paid for the time they need, not the time they sell.

iii.

Honest provenance

We tell you exactly what is in the oils we use, where the linens are made, and who trained the person about to work on your back. No mystery branding.

Care for the small things

The temperature of the changing-room floor. The texture of the bathrobe. The exact angle of the head rest. These are the details that make a room feel cared for — and we obsess over them.

The Building

A house on Upper Shoreham Road.

Our home is a quiet building on Upper Shoreham Road, set slightly back from the street with parking directly outside. We chose it because of its proportions: small enough to feel domestic, large enough to hold a pool, a sauna, a treatment room and a relaxation lounge — all on one floor, so guests with reduced mobility can use every part of the spa.

The architecture is intentionally restrained. Warm lime-washed walls, oak floors, soft wool throws and a colour palette borrowed from the Sussex chalk cliffs in winter. We avoid scented sprays and harsh overhead lighting. The mood is calm by design — not by accident.

Our Team

Small, qualified, calm.

The Hideaway is run by a handful of practitioners, each with formal training and full professional insurance. We hire slowly, and only people whose first instinct is to listen.

Therapists

Qualified to ITEC, VTCT or equivalent in massage and holistic therapy, with continuing professional development logged annually.

Hosting

Every booking is overseen by a host who handles your arrival, drinks, and the small comforts you would otherwise not think to ask for.

Standards

We hold public liability insurance and comply with all UK health and safety obligations. Our pool water is tested daily.
